The mens grooming is a billion dollar industry nowadays all around the world and it is still booming. 70% of the population live in the cities. If you want to be part of the society, you should care. Not only you should care about others, but you also need to care about yourself. Just imagine having a meeting with the same man, but two of them. One is messy, dishevelled, wearing no fragrance with a tiredness on his face. And then imagine the same one wearing a nice and well tailored suit, smells nice, bright face with a fine skin, nice hairstyle. Which one of these two are you going to do business with? Which one is more respectable and trustworthy?
Forget the word “metrosexual”. There is no such thing. The word was coined by Mark Simpson in an article, where he wrote that, “Metrosexual man, the single young man with a high disposable income, living or working in the city (because that’s where all the best shops are), is perhaps the most promising consumer market of the decade. In the Nineties, he’s everywhere and he’s going shopping.” To me, this name was only made up for heterosexual men, who were insecure about themselves, because some people might think “taking care of yourself, your body, skin and your health, and going shopping” might make you look like a homosexual. So then there would be a metrosexual and a homosexual. Funny. In todays world, no one is using the word metrosexual. Thank god. Heterosexual men are finally in a position, where they no more are insecure about themselves and they know that they need to take care of themselves in order to live a long and happy life.
I am glad that there are more and more brands thinking of their men’s clientele. Mens have been using women’s cosmetic products for ages. It is time to have our own range. Not that the skin is that different, but men want to have a moisturiser that doesn’t smell like flowers, but actually has a nice woody, masculine scent and is not packed in a pink container.
The former Gucci creative director has worked on a luxury cleanser, moisturizer, eye treatment, purifying mud mask, concealer and bronzing gel in response to a booming men’s grooming and skincare market. He is also adding two new scents to his popular Private Blend fragrance collection. The set of nine skin care and grooming products will hit the stores in the autumn.
